Sketchbook Project Begins

My new studio, the living room area downstairs. It is so neat because it is so new. I moved all the supplies in from the shop outside, where I originally set up my workspace.

The work table, littered with materials. I take pictures of the forest, print them in black and white, then paste them into the sketchbook where I alter them with pencil.

I am beginning my first art project here in my studio. I decided to participate in the annual Sketchbook Project sponsored by the Brooklyn, NY Art Library as a way of organizing my ideas and concepts for a new series of work based on my visual stimuli and sensations from my relatively new environment here in Oregon.

I have not had a studio set up for at least three years, so I am beginning fresh. All of my previous work is in the past. My previous life is in the past. I left the place I grew up and every friend I knew when we moved to Oregon. The future is ahead with a brand new environment to stimulate my creativity and rearrange my usual ways of working.

Part of my life process at present is about reinventing myself.  For that reason  I am recording the journey on this site. I hope to understand myself and my work more deeply as I share.
